Thursday Interview - Finkelstein on Virtual PD, Non-Traditional Learning Environments, and Badges

Join me Tuesday, June 12th, for a live and interactive FutureofEducation.com webinar with Jonathan Finkelstein, founder and executive producer of LearningTimes, the "global leader in creating innovative, interactive online learning solutions." Learning Times has produced live online conferences, webcasts, podcasts, and educational programs for more than 400 organizations and associations in technology, publishing, museums, libraries, K – 20 education, government, training and non-profits. Jonathan is also the director of the BadgeStack Project, the first system designed for badge-empowered learning and community-building, and the first to issue Mozilla Open Badges.

We'll talk about the changing nature of professional development (PD) in particular and learning in general with the rise of online meeting technology, and how informal and non-traditional learning environments are impacting how we think about education. We'll discuss peer-to-peer learning trends, and argue about the need for "micro-credentials and badge-empowered learning," which he is pioneering as part of major initiatives with groups such as the Smithsonian Institution, the New York City Department of Education, Yale University, and IMLS-funded programs for museums and libraries across the United States.

  1. Date above is incorrect ... it says June 14th .. that might mislead some to wait a couple more days!
