We're in Boston today for the third annual Global Leadership Summit, hosted by ASCD and GlobalEd Events. About the Summit

Looking for innovative and effective ways to lead classroom, school, or district initiatives that prepare all students to thrive in college, careers, and as citizens in our diverse, globally-connected world? The day-long Global Leadership Summit, co-hosted by ASCD and the Global Education Conference Network, will convene classroom teachers, school and district administrators, and thought leaders to provide participants the unique opportunity to:
  • Develop the capacity to lead classrooms and educational systems that teach students empathy, valuing diverse perspectives, cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving around real-world issues.
  • Network with innovative and inspiring teachers, principals, district leaders, thought leaders, and NGOs committed to educating students for a diverse, global society.
  • Receive resources and generate new ideas that can help you make immediate changes in your educational context.
  • Share best programs and practices in advocating for and implementing global learning initiatives with educators around the country and the world.
  • Find out how you can get involved with and utilize ASCD’s global engagement resources.
This professional learning event includes thought-provoking practitioner and expert panelists, inspiring ignite talks, and hands-on roundtable discussions that will provide practical tools, strategies, and ideas that you can immediately implement in your school, district, or organization. Lunch is included. 

The Global Leadership Summit is a pre-conference special event at ASCD’s Empower18: The Conference for Every Educator and part of the Global Education Conference Network’s third annual Global Leadership Week.

Global Leadership Week Starting! Event List + Join Us in Boston on Friday

Global Leadership Week (GLW) is a week-long convening of virtual and face to face events designed to celebrate leadership through global action in K20 education. GLW is an opportunity for education leaders to learn from one another and share effective principles in leadership, particularly within the context of an interconnected, global age.

Teaching and Learning Online with SPICE: Global Competence, Global Perspectives
"This webinar introduces three Stanford-designed online courses for high school students in the United States that leverage digital learning to develop global competence and diverse perspectives. The focus is driven by the following essential question: how do we cultivate global citizens through digital learning? Our objectives are to introduce teachers and students to innovative online courses—the Reischauer Scholars Program, Sejong Korean Scholars Program, and China Scholars Program—that connect high school students in the United States to content on Japan, Korea, and China, respectively."

"#Edtechchat is a weekly Twitter chat discussing all things education technology related. This chat will discuss using edtech to foster global competency with guest moderator Lucy Gray @elemenous.

Multilingual Multicultural Multimedia: Globally Connected Mobile Learning Projects
"This presentation showcases our international collaborations developing multilingual and multicultural multimedia project using mobile devices in teacher education; offers creative strategies for producing mobile apps with youth and developing educational app integrating world languages and 21st century skills; provides the results of participatory action research project among pre-service teachers; describes participants' reactions and experiences with new technologies and showcases their multimedia projects and digital stories. By collaborating with educators and students in Azerbaijan and in the US, we conducted an action research study and co-developed research-based multilingual app that promotes world literature, history, and culture. In conclusion, we explore how the use of educational apps and handheld devices in global education combines knowledge, reflection, and action; promotes global literacies; and prepares the new generation to be responsible members of a multicultural, global society."

"Know My World would like to know how different classrooms are leading the conversation of Global Competence in different cultures and countries. The Know My World BeingGlobal project is a collective contribution of statements and artwork from classrooms around the globe that answers the prompt: What does it mean to be a member of the global community? Contribute to our collective, view the video release of the classroom responses, talk about it on Twitter #knowmyworld."

Participate in Global Leadership Week 2018 | March 19 - 23


Global Leadership Week (GLW) is a weeklong convening of virtual and face to face events designed to celebrate leadership through global action in K20 education. It will take place March 19 - 23, 2018. GLW is an opportunity for education leaders to learn from one another and share effective principles in leadership, particularly within the context of an interconnected, global age.

GLW is designed for students, teachers, teacher educators, non-profit personnel and those in the corporate world. We seek to empower leaders in these communities. During Global Leadership Week, partner organizations, companies, school districts and individual schools will design and host virtual events to showcase thought leadership. These events will be listed on a GLW calendar posted to our website. Our event hashtag is #globaled18 and you can follow conversations about GLW on Twitter.


How to Connect Online with Global Leaders!

Below are four ways you can participate...

1. Host a Global Leadership Week Virtual or In Person Event
During Global Leadership Week, partner organizations, companies, school districts and individual schools will design and host their own virtual events to showcase thought leadership. These events will be listed on the GLW calendar posted to our website. Submit your activity at any time and we'll promote it.

2. Participate in Global Leadership Week Events Hosted By Partner Organizations
During Global Leadership Week, other groups who support global education leadership will be hosting virtual events. Specific directions and the full event calendar are located on our website.

3. Attend the Third Annual Global Leadership Summit at the ASCD Empower 18 Conference
We are co-hosting our face-to-face summit with ASCD in Boston. MA. This special networking event will take place on March 23, 2018. Paid registration is required.

4. Attend or Exhibit at the Global Education Online Fair (NOW MAY 4th)
Looking to take your school global? Come find out about tools, services, projects and programs related to globally connected teaching and learning! Check out the work of leading global educators, companies and nonprofit organizations at the Global Education Fair, a free, virtual meet and greet for educators and school districts.
