You Matter: Mental Health for Educators Who are Starting a New Year
Part of the LearningRevolution.com 'Survive and Thrive!' Series
OVERVIEW:
Teacher stress, I believe, is the biggest crisis facing our schools.
We have had so many challenges in education. And the indispensable linchpins, the teachers, are sometimes at their breaking point.
Are you personally feeling exhausted? Do you feel stressed, underappreciated, worried, or depressed?
As a teacher, it would be crazy if you weren’t feeling some of these feelings--maybe even all of them! (And you might even be feeling guilty for feeling them. Talk about irony!) March 2020 started the longest fifteen months any of us could have imagined, and it seems like it might not be over. The pandemic created innumerable hardships that have required us to juggle our own work and school and family lives.
Now… I want you to imagine for a moment that you feel balanced, purposeful, confident, and in control. Wouldn’t that be great?
Well, let’s get you there!
The pressures on teachers have been dramatic and they are often hidden behind the very equally real pressures on students. A lot of work in schools this year will focus on social and emotional learning for students (SEL), and there is absolutely no question that the students need this help. But it’s hard to feed someone emotionally when your own emotional cupboard is so bare.
We need real efforts to address teacher, leader, and parent social and emotional needs and wellbeing. SEL is often seens as “one more thing” but it can actually be the answer to promoting a classroom space, where both you and your students can thrive academically, physically, emotionally, and socially.
We will not have healthy schools and successful students without mentally healthy teachers. Join us for this life-changing one-hour webinar that will be centered on YOU, as we will explore how to navigate the coming school year with passion, courage, motivation and purpose.
Are you ready to:
- Refresh and Refocus your Leadership?
- Power up your social emotional know-how?
- Discover practical ways to meet our own needs of survival, strength, power and belonging?
- Meet the Moment with grace, calm and confidence?
- Step Into Your Bravest Self?
This session is open to both in-service and pre-service school teachers, educators, curriculum developers, instructional designers, librarians, academicians, and others interested in understanding and building their social and emotional competencies.
You will learn:
- Why SEL is important for ALL teacher and students
- How teaching affects the mental and emotional health of teachers
- How to design for THRIVING vs COPING
- The critical role of acknowledgement and celebration
- The value of presence and pause
You will walk away with innovative, individualized, time-saving and GAME CHANGING ways to integrate practices in your life and an action plan to build a more confident, connected, and hopeful school, classroom and home.
