OVERVIEW:
As libraries add new programs and services, some things stay the same: the need to keep library employees, patrons, and the buildings safe. Start 2020 with this tool-filled webinar with information and (often entertaining) stories from Steve.

This webinar will cover how to best protect staff from harassment, threats, or assaults; how to manage various challenging patron behaviors; and how to both assess and protect your library facilities from crimes or other situations that could shut down operations.

While this session will serve all levels of library employees, it will especially appeal to library directors, managers, and supervisors who have to manage different types of staffs and patrons in different types of facilities, ranging from urban locations to rural.

Steve will talk about best practices for:
  • managing groups of students who come to the library after their school day is over;
  • helping patrons experiencing homelessness to follow our rules while we treat them with respect;
  • helping staff stay motivated to deal with the same challenging patrons and their accompanying security issues, day after day;
  • protecting smaller library facilities and keeping one-room, one-librarian facilities safe;
  • working more effectively with security guards and law enforcement officers, to create more consistent responses;
  • using facility security checklists to regularly assess the state of your buildings.
Steve will also be ready to take questions at the end of the program for those that attend live.

COST: $99/person - includes access to the recording, presentation slides, and the attendee discussion forum. For group discounts, to submit a purchase order, or for any registration difficulties or questions, email steve@learningrevolution.com.
